ABOUT US

The Consulate General of Bangladesh in Jeddah is one of the biggest consular posts of Bangladesh abroad. It has 8 officers and 39 staff-members other than the Consul General with 5 Wings named Diplomatic, Consular, Labour, Hajj and Sonali Bank. All the wings have been working under tremendous pressure for which each and all officers and staff of this Consulate General have to remain busy beyond office hours and on holidays throughout the year. Apart from this, as the Consulate General is located at the gateway of the two Holy cities, the Mission has to do

the protocol duties for VIPs and various government delegations who visit Jeddah for performing Holy Hajj, and Umrah as well as official purpose.
The Mission is also responsible for the management of Hajj operation for Bangladeshi pilgrims. It may be mentioned here that during the time of Hajj the whole Consulate is geared up and each and every member of this Mission is engaged in Hajj related activities in addition to their normal duties for a period of 2-3 months.
The labour problems and its solutions is another responsibility of this Consulate. About 07 lakhs Bangladeshi nationals are living in various cities of its jurisdiction over the western part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which covers the area of 7 provinces (namely, Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah, Taif, Abha, Jizan, Al-Baha, Tabuk, Yanbu and Najran) out of 13 provinces of Saudi Arabia. Providing consular services to them, looking after their welfare and assisting settling labour disputes are some of many tasks carried out by the Mission. Trade promotion is another important responsibility of the Mission.
